Bahrain International Airport awarded OAG-Routes Airport Marketing Award 2008 for M.E. & CIS Region
Bahrain International Airport received the OAG-Routes Airport Marketing Award 2008 for Middle East & Commonwealth of Independent States Region at the 14th World Route Development Forum held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 12th – 14th October 2008.
His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was presented the award by Mr. Mohammed Thamir Al Ka’abi, Airport Director at the Civil Aviation Affairs headquarters. Also present were Capt. Abdulrahman al Gaoud, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs; Mr Ahmed Nemat Ali, Asst. Undersecretary for Aviation Services; and Mr Mohammed Mehdi, Acting Director for Marketing and Promotion.
The award is in recognition of the work the Civil Aviation Affairs has done in 2008 to market for new routes and promote the airport to airlines and passengers both locally and internationally.
In a statement the Undersecretary for CAA, Capt Abdulrahman Al Gaoud stated “The winning of this award reflects the policies of the CAA in the promotion of the aviation industry under the rightful guidance of His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. This achievement would not have been possible without his vision and his continuous guidance.
The award was received by the Airport Director, Mohammed Thamir Al Kaabi at the awards ceremony held during the Gala Dinner in Kuala Lumpur. The CAA marketing team led by Syed Mohammed Mehdi, Actg. Director of Marketing & Promotion, included Waleed Fakhro, Head of Aviation Marketing and Yousif Shehab, Sen Public Relations Specialist who together attended over 20 one to one meetings with airlines. During these meetings various opportunities were discussed for new services to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
