The Air Navigation Directorate is responsible
for the provision of air navigation services to
airspace users of the Bahrain Flight Information Region
and Bahrain International Airport. The Air Navigation
Directorate performs its duties and responsibilities
through the following functional sections:
- Air Traffic Management.
- Aeronautical Communications.
- Electronics Engineering.
- Standards, Licensing
and Development.
- Computer Services.
1.
Air Traffic Management Section:
The Air Traffic Management Section is responsible
for ensuring the safety and efficiency of air
traffic operations within the region and provides
the following services to the standards recommended
by the International Civil Aviation Organisation
- Aerodrome Control Service
- Approach Control Service
- Area Radar Control Service
- Flight Information and Alerting Service
- Search and Rescue.
- Aeronautical Information and Airspace Planning.
2. Aeronautical Communications Section:
The Aeronautical Communications Section is responsible
for:-
- Aeronautical mobile (HF/RT) communication
services
- AFTN/CIDIN Centre
- Airport Community Network (ACN)
- Aeronautical broadcasting services (Automated
ATIS/VOLMET).\
- Main airport PABX system
3. Electronics Engineering Section:
The Electronics Engineering Section provides and
maintains the radar systems, air-to-ground communication
systems and navigation aids systems as well as
essential airport terminal systems. This section
also provides technical support for Air Traffic
Management.
4 Standards, Licensing
and Development Section
This section is responsible for ATC & Engineering
Licensing, investigation of aviation incidents
and safety oversight of all ATS.
5. Computer Services Section (IT):
- The Computer Services Section is responsible
for all CAA and Bahrain International Airport
information technology related systems development
operations and maintenance management. Principal
activities of the Section are operations and
maintenance.
- The section is divided into two main sub sections:
I – Computer System Development Group
II – Technical Support Group.
